Central India Tiger Reserves (LEG 1) — The Jungle & the Grasslands
This is LEG 1 of the Central India Tiger Reserve workshops. It is a 9 day journey that covers 12 game drives in 2 National Parks—Bandhavgarh and Kanha.
It can be combined with LEG 2 for an 18 day journey through 4 National Parks, adding another 12 game drives in Pench and Tadoba. If you would like to sign up for the combined 18 day workshop($11,500 twin sharing) ($3,600 Single Supplement), please mention it when you send an enquiry.
Join me on a 9 day photography workshop to experience the wildlife and landscapes of two of Central India's tiger reserves, Bandhavgarh and Kanha. The jungles of Central India provide photographers with an abundant assortment of species flourishing in their natural habitat. Photographers of all levels welcome.
Early Booking Required as India’s Tiger Reserves have jeep bookings that open several months before the date of departure, and sell out very quickly.
This workshop is LEG 1 of 2 Workshops. It starts in New Delhi at the hotel on Feb 6 and if you do not sign up for LEG 2, we will say goodbye to you after breakfast at our Lodge in Kanha on February 16th , but your transportation to the Jabalpur airport and your domestic flight back to New Delhi as well as a hotel for 1 night in New Delhi is included in the workshop fee.

Bandhavgarh and Kanha Workshop Itinerary

February 7th
Welcome to india! Upon arrival in Delhi, you’ll be greeted and transferred to your hotel, where the group will get together for a briefing about our adventure ahead.

February 8th
We will catch a short flight to Jabalpur and then drive to Bandhavgarh National Park. It is a 4 hour drive, giving you the opportunity to experience the sights and sounds of rural India, and get some great photographs along the way. We will reach our lodge in Bandhavgar, settle in— and go for a short guided walk around the area with a knowledgable naturalist. Back at the lodge over evening drinks and dinner, we will discuss our plan for the game drives ahead, discuss strategies and techniques for wildlife photography, how the jungles of India differ from safaris in Africa and elsewhere. No matter how many hundreds of game drives one has done….there is always excitement and anticipation in the air the night before a new adventure: We will get updates from the local guides about the recent happenings in the forest that day, and plan our next morning game drive.

February 9th
We will venture out into the jungle in open jeeps. for morning and afternoon game drives. It’s day 1 of our adventure, so we will put into practice all the techniques and strategies we talked about and practiced earlier. There may be more instruction and guidance needed for those that are new to this setting, until you get the hang of things by day 2

February 10th
We will head out for a morning game drive, and this afternoon the core region of the park is closed, giving us a ideal opportunity to spend the afternoon conducting a debrief about the previous game drives, photo reviews and a post processing session. We will learn editing techniques based on your experience level.

February 11th
We will head out on morning and afternoon game drives. Depending on our luck on the previous days, we will set our strategy for the day.

February 12th
After our morning game drive we will head out on a 5 hour drive to our lodge in one of the most beautiful parks in Central India, Kanha National Tiger Reserve.

February 13th - 15th
For these three days, we will enjoy morning and evening game drives, exploring the exquisite backdrops that Kanha provides, and have have discussions and debriefs daily back at the lodge.

February 16th
Post breakfast, we will say our goodbyes to those who only joined us for this first leg of the Central India Tiger Reserve journey. They will be driven back to Jabalpur airport for a flight to Delhi. Those who have joined us for both legs of the Central India Tiger Reserve workshops will continue onto the land of the Jungle Book….Pench National Tiger Reserve where more adventure awaits.
Kings Lodge BandhavgarhKanha Earth LodgeThroughout your safari, you will stay in luxury lodges close to all our game drive entry gates. These accommodations have been selected keeping our photography workshops in mind.In Bandhavgarh you will stay at Kings Lodge an eco lodge nestled in a large natural forested estate of 14 acres. In Kanha you will stay at Kanha Earth Lodge. This small hamlet is tucked away in 16 acres of natural forest, bordering Kanha’s buffer zone. What's Included

Getting Here
Arrival
Fly into New Delhi International Airport (DEL) where a private vehicle will meet you on arrival and transfer you directly to the hotel in New Delhi. We depart together the next morning on a short flight to Jabalpur to start our adventure.
Departure
On Day 9 a private vehicle transfers you from Kanha Earth Lodge to Jabalpur Airport (JLR) — approximately four hours. From Jabalpur you connect back to Delhi to your hotel for the night.
