Most people who come to photograph tigers in India never make it to the north. Corbett gets a fraction of the attention that the central Indian reserves receive, and Rajaji and Pilibhit are barely on the international radar at all. I think that's about to change and I want to be there before it does.
These three reserves sit at the base of the Himalayas in a landscape that is completely unlike Kanha or Bandhavgarh. The forest is denser and more dramatic, the light comes through the canopy at angles that are genuinely beautiful to work with, and the wildlife — tigers, elephants, leopards, gharial in the rivers, an extraordinary variety of birds — is as rich as anywhere in India. Over ten days I'll take a small group through all three, working the early mornings and late evenings in private vehicles, reviewing images every night, and building the kind of body of work that this landscape deserves.
